Frequently Asked Questions
- 01After reaching out, there will be a free consultation to discuss what you are seeking from PT with Valkyrie, as well as ensure your candidacy for PT including ruling out any red flags that might warrant a referral. During the consultation, you will choose which tier status you would prefer (1x/week, 2x/month, or 1x/month). Every patient will be sent a link to set up an account with the exercise program software (VH360) which will allow you to access your home exercise program, chat with Shania, as well as be able to set up appointment times. Currently, I am operating as a virtual physical therapist, therefore meetings will be held through google meet video calls. If this is a concern, reach out and we can discuss options.
- 02Price will vary based on tier choice discussed between the PT and patient. There are 3 tiers with a choice between sessions once a week, twice a month, and once a month.
- 03The short answer is no. Although I know most of my patients have medical insurance, and I'm sure this will be frustrating to some people, insurance restricts medical care and restricts reimbursement for medical providers. Due to this, my method of not accepting insurance allows me and my patient to be in control of the care provided. I pride myself on one-on-one care with full attention to my patient, which is difficult for most clinics to maintain due to low reimbursement rates from insurance causing most PTs to see up to 20 patients a day and bustling from one patient to another. This style of clinic usually results in less individualized care, and reduced time with your PT for your needs and concerns. As I am not accepting insurance at this time, I am unable to see individuals who have Medicare as their medical insurance, but I am more than happy to refer you to another PT for your needs.
- 04Manual therapy is the use of hands-on approach to aid efficacy of therapeutic exercise; this can include stretching, massage, mobilizations, manipulations, cupping, IASTM (instrument assisted soft tissue mobilizations), and dry-needling. As stated in a separate FAQ, I am currently operating as a virtual physical therapist and manual therapy is an in-person service. If you feel you would benefit from manual therapy, reach out to discuss.
